Rise Support Services in Nottingham

The Rise services is for women and young women aged 16 years and over who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and who live in Nottingham City.


This service offers both immediate crisis support and ongoing emotional and practical support. This means that you can receive support when it’s needed most which can continue for up to 4 weeks and (or) non urgent emotional and practical support that can last for up to 12 weeks.  All elements of the service can be delivered flexibly in the woman's own home or in safe, accessible community venue.


A dedicated support worker will accompany you through the different elements of the service providing end to end support from crisis to independence.


The crisis element of the service focusses on

  • homelessness prevention
  • safety planning
  • choices and options
  • emotional stabilisation
  • referral to additional specialist services
  • fast-track referrals to other WAIS services


Whilst the flexible 12 week ongoing support can include help with

  • moving home or managing a tenancy
  • managing money
  • parenting     
  • self care and living skills
  • education, training, volunteering and employment
  • social networks and relationships
  • physical health
  • emotional wellbeing
  • drug and alcohol missuse
  • face to face, telephone, text and internet-based peer support


How to access the service


We can only accept referrals from agencies and are unable to accept self referrals. Call our Duty Team on 0115 988 4227 (Monday to Friday 9.15am and 4.30pm) or email a completed referral form to citysupport@wais.org.uk. You can also call our 24 Helpline.


What happens next ...

For immediate crisis referrals we will allocate a worker straight away. We will ask you some questions to find out about you and your situation but we will do this sensitively. We may offer you a face to face appointment in our drop in based in the Women’s Centre.


For non crisis referrals, we will contact you within 2 days of receiving the referral to let you know whether there is a waiting list. We will contact you again to offer you support or to let you know if you’re on a waiting list.


Under 16 and needing help?

Young women under the age of 16 years will be referred to the WAIS Teen Advocate service for 13 – 17 year old teenage girls.
